EVO on Linux
- get jdk-160
- register on http://evo.caltech.edu/evoGate/
- Start EVO
- in case things go wrong, run ps axf and doublecheck the java version used for this
- In Universe, there's a Testing meeting. Connect to it (and ask someone else to connect also).
- Make sure to unmute the microphone
- Screenshot Image(EVO-current-meeting.png, 50%)
- Go to AV Controls
- When you or the other side is speaking and all is well, you will see the colored bar of Audio Tramsit and Audio Receive moving
- For transmitting, this means all your audio mixer settings are fine
- You can be receiving audio, but not hearing it due to mixer settings

- To debug, locate the device used for receiving/transmitting
- as root, run
alsactl names
- it will create a file /etc/asound.names
- find the device in this file
- this is the mixer you need to play with
- for receiving, pay attention to mute state, and master and PCM setting
- for sending, pay attention to master, microphone and input-gain (also called recording volume) settings
