HOWTO: restart an nagios test manually

  • Nagios tests can be triggered by hand using the nagios web interface
  • There are a few possible ways you would like to go:
  • reschedule all tests on a node
    • click on the hostname -> this should bring you to a page with 'host information' in the left upper corner
    • click on "Schedule a check of all services on this host" (in the box of 'host commands').
    • mark box 'force check'
    • make sure the check time is in the very near future
    • click commit
  • Remark, for some of the nagios test there is an inter-check dependency so you will not be able to reschedule one single check, you will have to reschedule them all.
  • Reschedule one test on a node
    • This is very similar as the previous explanation but when you see the the status details of the host you can click on the test itself
    • click on 'Re-schedule the next check of this service' (in the box of 'host commands').
    • mark box 'force check'
    • make sure the check time is in the very near future
    • click commit
