Ceph testbed

A testbed has been created to test deployment of Ceph with the Quattor component ncm-ceph. Most of the machines of this testbed (cephq<x>.wn.iihe.ac.be, with x=1..5) are VMs hosted in VSC-VUB cloud. However, one machine, behar040, is a real one, and it contains 34 disks of 2TB.

Roles of machines in the testbed

The roles are distributed like this :

  • cephq1 is the admin-node, it is the machine from which the Ceph deployment is made;
  • cephq2 to cephq5 + behar040 are OSD machines;
  • cephq2 to cephq4 are MON machines;
  • cephq5 is running the MDS daemon;
  • behar040 can be viewed as a machine connected to a JBOD (passthrough mode enable at the level of the disk controller, meaning that all the disks are visible by the operating system).
